Blenheim Palace Undergoes £12m Roof Restoration Ahead of 2025 European Eventing Championships

The Agria Blenheim European Eventing Championships, taking place from 17–21 September, will be held against the unique backdrop of Blenheim Palace undergoing a significant £12 million roof restoration. This essential project, expected to be completed by 2027, aims to preserve the palace’s historic architecture and protect its internationally important ceiling paintings from damage caused by age, climate change, and water ingress. The restoration involves extensive scaffolding and improvements such as enhanced gutter capacity, fire safety measures, and energy efficiency upgrades.

Two-thirds of the funding for this monumental effort is privately provided by Blenheim Palace, which is seeking additional support to cover the remaining costs. The work not only safeguards the palace’s structural integrity but also ensures the preservation of its cultural legacy for future generations, highlighting the importance of maintaining this UNESCO World Heritage site while continuing to host major events like the European Eventing Championships.
