Pedro Lanz, agent for KAS Stables, purchased multiple Grade 3 winner Bishops Bay for $1.3 million at the Keeneland November horses of racing age sale, setting a record for the event. Bishops Bay, a 5-year-old son of Uncle Mo, recently won the Forty Niner (G3) at Belmont and has earned $702,800 in his career with eight wins in 12 starts. The sale saw strong overall results, with 108 horses sold for a total of $10.45 million, marking a 21.39% increase from the previous year.
Lanz plans to keep Bishops Bay with trainer Brad Cox, targeting upcoming races such as the Dec. 6 Cigar Mile (G2), the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) in January, and potentially the Saudi Cup (G1) in February. ELiTE, the consignor, led sales with $5.37 million from 41 horses sold, highlighting the day as their “Super Bowl” of the year. Bishops Bay’s pedigree and performance have made him a highly sought-after racehorse with promising future prospects on the international racing stage.
