In Beulah, Florida, Cheryl Golden, owner of “Horse Rides of Pensacola,” is concerned that a new 65-home development on Suwanee Road will negatively impact her business and the safety of her horses and clients. Golden has already experienced the loss of two horses due to traffic in the existing neighborhood and fears that increased traffic from the new development, which has only one entrance and exit directly in front of her business, will exacerbate these issues. She has appealed to county leaders and developers to relocate the development’s entrance further down the road but has seen no changes or further communication from the developers.
Former county commissioner Jeff Bergosh criticized the lack of a master plan to manage growth in the area, suggesting that such developments could have been avoided. Meanwhile, Golden continues to advocate for safety measures, including a petition for speed bumps on Suwanee Road, emphasizing the impact on her business and the well-being of children and riders who use her facilities. The development company, Dantin Bruce Development, has not responded to requests for comment.
