During a blizzard in Rhode Island, a rescued horse named Lightning was seen enjoying a snowy walk at Journey’s End Farm/Epona Safe Haven in Scituate. Lightning, a 15-year-old former harness racing and Amish buggy horse, was once very sick and required nearly $10,000 in veterinary care. Now healthy and trusting humans again, he is one of several rescue horses at the farm with remarkable stories.
Despite the harsh weather, Lightning showed no fear of the snow, earning the nickname “the blizzard horse.” His caretaker, Lauryn Vernancio, shared a video of their winter outing, highlighting Lightning’s joyful spirit and recovery journey in his new home.
