Event organiser Cathie Drury-Klein explained that the decision to host an international Medium Tour event arose naturally since they were already running many CDI classes and had judges available. The Medium Tour, which includes Intermediate A and B levels, represents the next step up from the CDI1* levels of Prix St Georges and Intermediate I, providing riders with new international competition opportunities.
This addition marks a significant progression for Australian dressage, as Medium Tour events have previously only been held at the national level (CDN) and never internationally. Introduced about 11 years ago, the Medium Tour serves as a bridge between Small Tour and Big Tour (Grand Prix), incorporating advanced elements while allowing some flexibility. Although the number of Medium Tour competitors in Australia remains relatively small, both participation and quality have been steadily increasing.
