The Attorney General’s Office of Indonesia is investigating potential obstruction in the corruption case involving Jurist Tan Aulia, who is currently a fugitive linked to the chromebook procurement scandal. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of entrapment if interference in the investigation or prosecution is proven, and charges under the Corruption Crime Law could be applied. Despite ongoing searches, Jurist Tan is believed to be abroad, with Interpol having been requested to issue a red notice for his capture.
Additionally, there are unconfirmed reports that Jurist Tan may have applied to change his nationality. The Attorney General’s Office stated that even if this is true, the legal process will continue, emphasizing that a change in citizenship does not negate criminal responsibility, especially since the alleged crimes occurred while he was still an Indonesian citizen. No evidence has yet emerged implicating family members or others in obstructing the investigation.
