Asan City in South Chungcheong Province is fully operating its “2026 Public Horseback Riding Program,” which uniquely combines the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin with horseback riding to promote loyalty, filial piety, and patriotism among youth while supporting rehabilitation for people with disabilities. The program features two main tracks: “Chungmu Spirit Cultivation Riding,” offering history education and hands-on riding experiences to local students, and “Rehabilitation Riding,” providing therapeutic horseback riding sessions to disabled children and adults, all fully funded by the city to eliminate financial barriers.
Since its inception in 2024, Asan’s program has been pioneering in using municipal funds to make horseback riding accessible as both an educational and rehabilitative tool. By fostering pride, patience, confidence, and social participation, the city aims to enhance quality of life and explore equine-related career opportunities. The local government plans to evaluate and expand the program to include more participants and diverse activities, reflecting its commitment to community health and well-being.
