Arlette E. Has No Horse, born February 6, 1964, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, passed away on November 30, 2025. Raised in Yellow Bear, she embraced Lakota language and culture throughout her life. Arlette earned an AA degree in Lakota Language and general studies from Oglala Lakota College and dedicated over 27 years to education, serving as a teacher aide, bilingual aide, secretary, and family liaison at various schools, including Crazy Horse School. Known for her compassion and love for children, she was deeply involved in her community and cherished by many.
She is survived by her children, siblings, grandchildren, and numerous extended family members. Arlette was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and children. Funeral and traditional Lakota services will be held in December 2025 at American Horse School and Crazy Horse School, with burial at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Yellow Bear Canyon. Her legacy of kindness, cultural dedication, and community service leaves a lasting impact on all who knew her.
