The Arabian Purebred Championship, the opening tournament of the 6th Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF) 2026, concluded in Doha on February 7, with competitions across multiple age categories including yearling fillies and colts, two- to three-year-olds, and adult mares and stallions. The event featured 232 horses from Qatar and several countries such as Bahrain, France, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the USA, highlighting strong performances and fierce competition from prominent regional stables. The championship underscored Qatar’s commitment to preserving and promoting the heritage of purebred Arabian horses while celebrating the skill and competitive spirit inherent in the sport.
Katara Cultural Village positions the festival as more than a sporting event; it serves as a global cultural hub that symbolizes the rich Arab legacy and fosters cross-cultural communication. The festival aligns with Katara’s cultural and heritage marketing strategy, using such prestigious events as soft marketing tools to enhance its international profile as a center for culture, sports, and tourism. The festival not only promotes excellence in horse breeding but also reinforces Katara’s role in protecting and showcasing Arab heritage on a global stage.
