Apprentice Jockey Zulhilmi Mazuki Wins on Debut as Sibling Akmazani Also Claims Victory at Sungai Besi

Apprentice jockeys and brothers Zulhilmi and Akmazani Mazuki each secured a win at the eight-race meeting in Sungai Besi on December 20, with Zulhilmi’s victory drawing particular attention. The younger sibling, newly licensed and trained by Frank Maynard, won impressively on his debut ride aboard Forest Gold in a Class 5B race. Zulhilmi, who has been involved with horses since childhood and has been with Maynard’s yard for six years, demonstrated strong riding skills and composure, earning praise from his trainer who sees a bright future for him.

Meanwhile, Akmazani, an experienced apprentice jockey, rode Tau Keh Soh to a third-place finish in the day’s highlight Class 3 race, showing confidence in the horse’s performance over a shorter distance and on a wet track. Both brothers come from a racing family, with their father and siblings involved in the industry, underscoring their deep roots in horse racing. Their successes at Sungai Besi highlight their growing prominence in the Malaysian racing scene.
