French’s Care Haven, a charity that rescues older and neglected horses and donkeys while providing therapeutic support to people with mental health issues and loneliness, is urgently seeking a new home for the third time. Currently renting land in Boxford, Suffolk, the property has been put up for sale, forcing the charity to find 20-30 acres of grazing land within 10 miles of its current location. Founder Jann Turner highlighted the charity’s impact on vulnerable people and the distress caused by repeatedly having to relocate, with only four weeks’ notice to vacate the current site.
Despite the challenge, there is hope as another charity, Willowtree Sanctuary, has offered funds held in trust to help French’s Care Haven purchase land and establish a permanent base. The charity aims to remain in the local area to continue supporting its volunteers and community, but must clear its shelters and fences from the current site once it leaves.
