Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Banned from Horseback Riding Following Arrest

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been banned from horseback riding following his arrest on 19 February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Royal advisers are concerned that images of him happily riding horses during an ongoing police investigation could damage his public image. Previously a frequent rider around the Windsor estate, Andrew has now been instructed to avoid riding near his current residence at Wood Farm to prevent photographers from capturing such moments.

The 66-year-old faces allegations related to disclosing sensitive information to financier Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s trade envoy from 2001 to 2011, though specific details of the charges remain undisclosed. Since his arrest, Andrew has also ceased other pastimes, such as shooting, after voluntarily surrendering his gun licence last year. Recently relocated to King Charles’s Sandringham estate, he is expected to move into Marsh Farm by early April.
