American Horse Trials Foundation Expands “Chasing the Gold” Grant to Support U.S. Eventing Athletes

The American Horse Trials Foundation (AHTF) is continuing and expanding its “Chasing the Gold” Grant, a funding initiative aimed at supporting U.S. eventing athletes aspiring to international success. Launched in 2025 with Sharon White as its first recipient, the grant offers two awards of $25,000 each for the 2026 cycle to promising horse-and-rider pairs who demonstrate capability and commitment to competing at the highest levels, particularly in European competitions. Priority is given to athletes who have completed a CCI4-Long event without cross-country penalties in the past two years and have not yet represented the U.S. in Olympic or World Championship teams.

Applicants must submit a clear plan outlining their training, competition, and business strategies aligned with the Foundation’s goal of enhancing U.S. competitiveness on the world stage. Applications for the 2026 grants are due by November 21, 2025, with winners announced at the 2025 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention Awards Ceremony. The AHTF, a nonprofit organization, aims to foster U.S. eventing talent and infrastructure through initiatives like this grant, helping athletes secure financial support for national and international competition.
