Will Morton successfully defended his cob championship title at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, this time riding Valerie Hosegood’s skewbald heavyweight, Bannview So Smart. The seven-year-old horse, who previously placed fourth at the Horse of the Year Show, has shown significant improvement in fitness after a winter break, thanks to a focused training regimen. Morton praised the initiative promoting healthy horse weight, emphasizing that show animals don’t need to be overweight.
The reserve cob champion was Isabella Mears Wood, who won the amateur cob class with her beloved maxi cob, Brookdale Limited Edition (Archie). Overwhelmed with emotion, Isabella expressed her deep affection for Archie, who has been a part of her life for eight years. The pair has previously achieved success in both amateur and open classes at the show.
Other notable winners included Vicky Smith, who triumphed in the ridden coloured championship with her unbeaten maxi cob, A Red Knight (Razzle), and Richard Mills, who took the novice cob class with the young gelding Darrowby Cavalier (Ted). The event showcased a range of talented horses and riders, highlighting the competitive spirit and camaraderie within the equestrian community.
