Altoona Mirror’s Season of Sharing Raises $48,183 to Support Dreams Go On Therapeutic Riding Program

The Altoona Mirror’s annual Season of Sharing campaign raised $48,183 to support Dreams Go On Inc., a nonprofit that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons for physically and emotionally challenged individuals. The funds will help accelerate construction of a new barn at their Hollidaysburg location, featuring indoor and outdoor riding rings, stalls, and allergy-friendly flooring. This donation is part of a long-standing community effort that has raised over half a million dollars for local nonprofits since 2005, with about 162 donors contributing an average of $143 each this year.

Dreams Go On, which has served the community for over 35 years, relies heavily on grants and donations to maintain and expand its services. The new facility, supported by a $1 million grant and community fundraising, will enable the organization to broaden its programming and improve accessibility for participants. The campaign also raised awareness about the program’s impact, highlighting the transformative benefits of therapeutic riding for individuals with disabilities.
