Altoona Mirror’s 2025 Season of Sharing Supports Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program Dreams Go On

The Altoona Mirror’s 2025 Season of Sharing fundraising campaign will support Dreams Go On Inc., a local nonprofit providing therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Founded over 35 years ago, the program helps participants improve physical strength, balance, coordination, and self-confidence through riding sessions led by certified instructors and volunteers. Dreams Go On serves people with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, and brain injuries, offering a unique blend of therapy, socialization, and skill-building.

Currently operating at a shared facility, Dreams Go On is constructing its own barn and indoor riding arena on a recently purchased 14.5-acre site, thanks in part to a $1 million grant. This expansion will allow the program to increase capacity beyond its current 60 riders and reduce a long waiting list. The new facility aims to enhance the therapeutic experience and community involvement, with organizers emphasizing that donations of any size are vital to sustaining and growing the program’s impact.
