Allegations of Neglect Surround Horse Rescue Charity Amid Claims of Mismanagement

Stephanie Redlick operates Above the Stars Equine Rescue, claiming to have rescued around 150 horses from slaughter since 2013. Despite her assertions of running a legitimate charity, investigations reveal that the organization is not registered as a charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and Redlick’s claims about issuing tax receipts for donations are unfounded. Additionally, her Facebook page was created recently, raising questions about the organization’s legitimacy.

Concerns have been raised regarding the welfare of the horses in Redlick’s care, with reports of neglect leading to an investigation by the province’s Animal Welfare Services (AWS). Following inspections, several horses were removed due to non-compliance with care orders. Redlick denies these allegations, attributing them to malicious actions by trespassers who she claims injured one of her horses.

While Redlick insists that she provides proper care and rehabilitation for the horses, the ongoing investigation and lack of verification for her claims cast doubt on her operations. She has expressed intentions to involve volunteers in the future but currently operates with limited help due to privacy concerns stemming from the alleged trespassing incident.
