Alicante Firefighters Rescue Horse Trapped in Well During Overnight Operation

Firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium conducted a challenging overnight rescue on February 17, saving a horse that had fallen into a well in Pinoso, Alicante province. The rescue operation, which began shortly after 2:00 am and lasted over three hours, involved using mud extraction pumps, a backhoe to widen the well’s opening, a harness, and a Multilift vehicle. The coordinated effort included a sergeant, a corporal, five firefighters, and two rescuers from the Elda and Sant Vicent del Raspeig fire parks.

After being carefully extracted, the horse received a thorough veterinary examination on site and was found to be in good health, sustaining only minor scratches from the fall. This unusual rescue highlights the versatility and dedication of Alicante firefighters, who continue to serve as a vital safety resource for both people and animals in the region.
