Alec Lochore Appointed Cross-Country Course Designer for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Alec Lochore, a highly experienced FEI level 4 course designer and technical delegate from Great Britain, has been unanimously appointed by the FEI Board as the cross-country course designer for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. With over two decades of international eventing experience, including key roles at the 2012 London and 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Lochore brings a wealth of strategic leadership and technical expertise. He will be supported by fellow Briton Michael Etherington-Smith as course advisor.

Lochore’s extensive background also includes involvement in FEI World Equestrian Games, European Championships, and service on the FEI Eventing Committee. FEI President Ingmar De Vos praised Lochore’s credentials and his role in assessing the feasibility of the LA28 venue at Santa Anita Park. The design work for the Olympic cross-country course is set to begin shortly, aiming to challenge top athletes while highlighting the sport to a global audience.
