Adoptable Horse of the Week: Meet Barn Shark, a 6-Year-Old Thoroughbred Gelding

Horse Illustrated, in partnership with the ASPCA’s Right Horse program, features Barn Shark, a 6-year-old, 15.2hh Thoroughbred gelding from the Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation in Guthrie, Oklahoma, as this week’s adoptable horse. Barn Shark, affectionately known as Barney, was responsibly retired from racing and is now ready for his second career. After a previous adoption that ended due to his energetic nature not matching his adopter’s expectations, Barney has returned to the rescue, where he continues to demonstrate his intelligence, sweet disposition, and willingness to work. He is best suited for an intermediate or confident rider looking for a young, athletic partner with no limitations.

The ASPCA Right Horse initiative aims to increase horse adoption across the United States by connecting potential adopters with horses like Barn Shark through their online platform, myrighthorse.org. This program brings together equine industry professionals and advocates to improve the lives of horses in transition. Interested adopters are encouraged to contact the Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation to learn more about Barn Shark and other adoptable horses.
