Horse Illustrated, in partnership with the ASPCA’s Right Horse program, features Breaking Bullet as this week’s adoptable horse. Breaking Bullet is a 5-year-old, 16.1-hand Thoroughbred mare who raced 38 times before retiring in August. After retirement, she was evaluated as sound by a vet but later showed hoof soreness, which is being treated with care and physical therapy to improve her neck stiffness and overall condition at After the Races in Elkton, Maryland.
The ASPCA Right Horse initiative aims to increase horse adoption across the U.S. by connecting potential adopters with horses in need, like Breaking Bullet. Interested individuals can learn more about Breaking Bullet and other adoptable horses through the ASPCA’s online platform at myrighthorse.org, which supports horses transitioning to new homes and promotes responsible adoption.
