This Valentine’s Day, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary in Wroxall is encouraging supporters to adopt one of their four “Lonely Hearts” donkeys—Major, Lenny, Wispa, and Gabby—who are still waiting for a special home. Adoption helps fund the lifelong care of the sanctuary’s over 100 rescued equines, and adopters receive regular updates and photos to stay connected with their chosen animal. The sanctuary remains open daily for visitors to meet these charming donkeys in person.

Adoption coordinator Lucy Smith highlights that these donkeys, each with unique personalities, make meaningful Valentine’s gifts while supporting a local charity. The sanctuary hopes that by opening hearts to these less-adopted animals, they can find loving homes and raise awareness about the ongoing care needs of their rescued donkeys and ponies.
