Addison Kerwin, a recent graduate from Baxter High School and member of the Baxter FFA chapter, has been passionate about horses since she was three years old. She currently cares for her horse, Iris Storm Cat (Ruby), and enjoys the calming presence horses provide, noting how they respond to the energy around them. Preparing for shows involves consistent nightly riding to build fitness, though the process can be hectic. Addison also shares a humorous memory of Ruby running her over during a goat tying event, which she found funny despite her mom’s reaction.
Being selected as queen was a significant honor for Addison, allowing her to support her county fair and advocate for the horse industry. She encourages other kids involved in 4H or FFA to be patient and persistent, emphasizing that improvement comes step by step and that success will follow with time.
