Rudry Village Riding Club is committed to making equestrian sports accessible and inclusive by offering a variety of classes, clinics, and local competitions while keeping costs low to ensure affordability for members in the less affluent Caerphilly area. Thanks to support from the National Lottery and Sport Wales, the club has been able to purchase its own equipment, reducing expenses and passing those savings on to its members, thereby providing more opportunities for girls to participate and thrive in the sport.
The club’s efforts highlight the importance of financial backing in promoting inclusivity in sports, particularly for women and girls. Initiatives like the Be Active Wales fund encourage similar projects aimed at increasing female participation in sports, offering grants and support to help communities create welcoming and affordable sporting environments.
