Abbeyleix House and Farm hosted its annual Family Day on June 29, drawing thousands of visitors to enjoy a variety of activities including a 10k run, airshow, vintage car display, equestrian events, archery, local crafts, and train rides for children. The event, held on the 1,120-acre estate owned by Stripe co-founder John Collison since 2021, supports local charities such as Laois Homecoming Festival and Laois SPCA. The estate also serves as a sanctuary for rescue animals, particularly horses rehabilitated by My Lovely Horse Rescue, and features a team led by Olympic showjumper Sam Watson.

Undergoing a renaissance, Abbeyleix Estate is undergoing careful restoration to preserve its heritage, including the renovation of Millbrook Manor into a high-end restaurant and hotel overseen by Michelin-star chef Cuán Greene. The estate maintains strong community ties and historical authenticity, with ongoing collaboration with the 7th Viscount de Vesey, who retains ownership of the estate church. The Family Day exemplified the estate’s mission to blend heritage conservation with community engagement and animal welfare.
