Abandoned Pregnant Donkey Mia Finds Trust and Friendship After Rehoming in Aberdeenshire

A heavily pregnant donkey named Mia was abandoned last summer and taken into care by World Horse Welfare at Belwade Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Aberdeenshire. Initially very cautious and protective, Mia underwent a careful rehabilitation process with the help of groom Jodie, who helped her build trust and confidence. Mia gave birth to her foal, Peanut, shortly after arriving and has since transformed from being apprehensive to affectionate, ready for rehoming.

Mia has now found a loving new home with Alicia, who also owns a donkey named Duffy. Both donkeys had recently lost companions, and they quickly bonded, forming a strong friendship. Alicia praised the care Mia received at Belwade Farm and is delighted with how well Mia has settled in. The story highlights the positive impact of patience and rehabilitation in helping abandoned animals recover and thrive in new environments.
