Patricia Petrina is on a remarkable journey, riding from the Mexican border to the Canadian border on horseback, covering nearly 3,000 miles. This adventure, which she has been planning for four years, allows her to appreciate the beauty of the landscape at a slow pace, accompanied by her four horses and dog, Piglet. While she describes her group as an “oddity,” the journey is not just scenic; it serves as a test of her grit and determination.
Despite the challenges, including the physical demands of the trip, Petrina finds satisfaction in the experience. She acknowledges that while 80% of the time is hard work, the overall journey brings her joy. Inspired by a childhood documentary about hikers, she aims to live an adventure akin to the old-western lifestyle, spending quality time with her horses and reflecting on her motivations.
Having recently graduated from nursing school, Petrina views this journey as a chance to explore her purpose before starting her career. While she hasn’t yet fully articulated her reasons for undertaking this adventure, she hopes to discover them along the way, embracing the experience as a significant chapter in her life.
