A Day with Sabrina Moore: Knicks Go’s Legacy and Life After Horse Breeding

Sabrina Moore, breeder of the Maryland-bred champion Knicks Go, recently experienced an emotional high as Knicks Go’s first-crop foal, Ewing, secured the sire’s first graded stakes win at Saratoga. Despite closing her breeding operation and relocating to Kentucky, Moore remains deeply connected to Knicks Go’s legacy and follows his progeny closely. She acknowledges the challenges Knicks Go faces as a freshman sire but is optimistic about his future, especially with promising offspring she personally bred. Moore also shares the bittersweet experience of selling mares and foals she loved, emphasizing the emotional and financial complexities of the breeding industry.

Now settled in Kentucky, Moore has transitioned into an administrative role at Runnymede Farm, appreciating the more commercial and competitive environment compared to Maryland’s close-knit racing community. While she enjoys her current stress-free life away from horse bills, she remains open to returning to Maryland’s revitalized racing scene. Moore’s journey reflects both the passion and pragmatism required in Thoroughbred breeding, as well as the ongoing excitement surrounding Knicks Go’s growing impact as a sire.
