Yaileny Selema Sánchez, a Cuban veterinary nurse living in Nevada, has dedicated her life to rescuing and caring for abandoned, sick, and exploited animals on her two-acre sanctuary. Alongside her partner Ale and mother-in-law, she provides medical treatment, rehabilitation, and loving care to a diverse group of animals including horses, donkeys, pigs, and more. Despite financial challenges and lack of government aid, Yaileny sustains the sanctuary through her work, social media fundraising, and the support of nearly 100,000 followers who help cover costly medical treatments and specialized diets.
Yaileny’s journey began in Havana, where her passion for animals was inspired by her mother and early rescue experiences. After migrating to the U.S., she pursued veterinary nursing to better serve animals in need. Her sanctuary is not just a refuge but a place where animals receive dignity, love, and sometimes a peaceful end. Yaileny’s tireless daily routine and emotional resilience reflect her deep commitment to animal welfare, with hopes to expand her sanctuary in the future and continue giving neglected animals a second chance at life.
