65th Annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show Highlights Youth Achievements and Sportsmanship

The 65th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show took place from October 23-26 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, featuring over 650 youth competitors from more than 50 counties across Pennsylvania. Participants qualified through county and district competitions to compete in 82 performance classes, including showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, and specialized events like the Equestrian with Disabilities division. Champions received custom pewter plates and embroidered jackets, while reserve champions earned gift certificates. The event was supported by numerous sponsors, including The Pennsylvania National Horse Show and Perri’s Leather.

Berks County 4-H members achieved notable success, with Amanda Haldeman securing multiple first-place finishes in pony and equitation classes. The show also highlighted sportsmanship awards across districts and hosted a photography contest and equine skillathon, with Berks County youth earning top placements. The Pennsylvania 4-H Horse Program, administered by Penn State Extension, continues to foster youth development in horse care and management, emphasizing leadership and life skills for thousands of participants statewide.
