4-H Youth Learn Life Lessons and Showcase Livestock at American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg

The American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg serves as a valuable platform for 4-H youth to learn important life skills such as responsibility, respect, and fairness through raising and showing livestock. Participants like Keyaira Shall, Lexi Seilhamer, and the Skebeck brothers emphasize the bonds formed with their animals and fellow 4-H members, highlighting the program’s role in fostering lifelong friendships and teaching hard work and kindness. The fair also offers a variety of activities and competitions, including livestock shows, costume contests, and rodeo events, providing fun and educational experiences for all ages.

Fair board member Doug Reighard noted that the event includes new attractions like a live butterfly exhibit and Jurassic Kingdom, enhancing the experience for children. The proceeds from the fair support improvements for future events, with planning for next year already underway. The youth livestock sale, a significant and emotional part of the fair, allows participants to showcase their hard work and dedication, underscoring the fair’s role in connecting young people to agriculture and their community.
