Adrian Davis, a 4-H member from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, won first place in the Individual Presentation division at the 2025 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Communications Contest. She qualified with her presentation titled “An Inside Look at Colic,” which had previously earned first place in the Pennsylvania 4-H State Virtual Public Speaking and Presentations contest. Davis’s presentation focused on impaction colic in horses, detailing key steps for horse owners to identify symptoms, seek veterinary care, and implement preventative management. She uniquely used a homemade model of a horse’s pelvic flexure to visually demonstrate how impaction colics occur and how veterinarians treat them.
The national competition was highly competitive, with only a narrow margin separating the top contestants, and Davis earned a perfect score. She expressed pride in sharing her passion for horse health and public speaking on a national stage. The 4-H organization supports youth development by providing opportunities for members like Davis to explore their interests and develop skills through county, state, and national events.
