In September, the On the Fence 4-H Club from Montoursville collaborated with Empower Stride, an Equine Assisted Learning nonprofit in Muncy, to participate in a hands-on session aimed at team building and leadership development. The club members learned horse safety, grooming, and basic handling with two mares, Smarty and Gigi, fostering a bond with the animals.
The group then engaged in a “4-Day Survivor Scenario” challenge, guiding their horses through obstacle courses that simulated survival tasks. This activity emphasized communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork, helping members build leadership skills and confidence while providing a unique and enjoyable learning experience.
