21st Annual Rosewood Rodeo Showcases Equine Therapy Riders and Community Support

The 21st Annual Rosewood rodeo took place on October 4 at the Barton County Fair Grounds, showcasing the horsemanship skills of 28 equine therapy riders from Rosewood Ranch, which supports individuals with developmental disabilities. The event featured a range of participants from novices to seasoned competitors, including youth riders in a trail pattern event, and therapy horses with years of experience. The day included performances by the all-female drill team “The American Freedom Riders,” a staff competition, a silent auction benefiting Rosewood’s Roots and Wings Foundation, and various family-friendly activities.

Awards recognized riders for categories such as Best Cowboy Spirit, Most Improved Rider, and Most Inspirational Leader, along with high point and reserve honors in trail, horsemanship, and showmanship divisions. Sponsored by 20 local businesses and supported by around 50 volunteers, the rodeo was praised by Rosewood CEO Tammy Hammond for the collective effort that made the event a memorable celebration of the participants’ achievements and community support.
