21st Annual Rosewood Rodeo Set for October 4 at Barton County Fair Grounds

The 21st annual Rosewood rodeo, an equine-therapy event, will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Barton County Fair Grounds Expo III arena in Great Bend. This family-friendly, no-admission event showcases riders from Rosewood Services, who train year-round at Rosewood Ranch, a therapeutic horse ranch for people with developmental disabilities. The day features rodeo events for both adult and child riders, performances by the American Freedom Riders drill team, children’s games, face painting, a photo booth, staff races, and a silent auction benefiting the Roots & Wings Foundation.

Attendees can enjoy reasonably priced Chuck Wagon concessions, including a pulled pork lunch, and browse a tack shop offering novelties and client-made items. The rodeo begins with a grand entry and flag ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by various therapeutic riding events and an award ceremony around 3 p.m. The event is a celebration of the riders’ accomplishments and provides a special day for families, friends, and staff to come together in support of the Rosewood community.
