The 2025 USEF dressage Training Series on the East Coast began quietly with a focus on sustainable success and team podium finishes. Clinicians Allison Brock, Katherine Bateson-Chandler, and Olivia LaGoy-Weltz provided expert instruction tailored to each of the 14 participants, helping them work on adjustability, engagement, and precision with their horses.
Riders like Virginia Woodcock, Laila Edwards, and Autumn Vavrick received guidance on improving their horses’ movements and responsiveness. The clinicians emphasized the importance of connection, rhythm, and suppleness in order to achieve better performance in various exercises, such as flying changes, shoulder-in to renvers, and lateral work.
The clinic also featured young riders like Sophia Forsyth, Addy Batcheller, and Lexie Kment, who were encouraged to take risks and work on pushing their horses forward and engaging their core. The participants shared their challenges and successes with their horses before each ride, and the clinic will continue with riders rotating through different clinicians and culminating in mock tests on Sunday.
