2025 Runnin’ WJ Barrel Races: Three Days of Thrilling Competition and Community in Texarkana

The annual Runnin’ WJ Barrel Races, held at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, is one of the largest and most prestigious equine events in the country. Taking place from June 12-14, 2025, the event features exhibitions, big money races, and added purse competitions, drawing top riders from across the U.S. Spectators enjoy free admission, family-friendly entertainment, vendors, and food throughout the weekend. Sunday morning begins with a special church service before the final races, fostering a strong sense of community.

Beyond the thrilling competition, the Runnin’ WJ Barrel Race supports Texarkana’s Runnin’ WJ Ranch equine therapy programs, which provide therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with disabilities. Since its start in 2008, the event has grown into a nationally respected tradition that combines horsemanship with philanthropy. Volunteers are especially needed to assist with resetting barrels, particularly on Sunday, highlighting the event’s reliance on community involvement.
