The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) and the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA), in partnership with The Maryland Jockey Club, will host the 2025 Maryland Thoroughbred Industry Renaissance Awards on March 22 at Laurel Park. This luncheon event celebrates outstanding achievements in Maryland horse racing, honoring exceptional horses, breeders, owners, trainers, jockeys, and backstretch workers who contribute to the sport’s excellence and community strength. MTHA president Katy Voss emphasized the event’s role in recognizing dedication and horsemanship, while MHBA president Richie Blue highlighted the quality and resilience of Maryland-bred Thoroughbreds.
The awards feature finalists across multiple categories, including Maryland-bred champions by age and gender, sprinters, turf runners, steeplechasers, and industry contributors such as breeder, broodmare, and stallion of the year. Notable finalists include horses like Big Cuddle, Dazzling Dame, Barbadian Runner, and Future Is Now, as well as breeders Jagger Inc. and R. Larry Johnson. The MTHA awards also recognize top owners, trainers, jockeys, and backstretch workers, with nominees such as Madison Avenue Racing stable and trainer Brittany Russell.
