The Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs is the last points prep race before the virtual win-and-you’re-in races for the Kentucky Derby 2025. Undefeated Poster is expected to compete in the race, bringing his 3-for-3 record to a fourth different racetrack. Other races on Saturday include the Suncoast, a Kentucky Oaks points prep, and graded stakes at Oaklawn and Santa Anita.
In the Suncoast at Tampa Bay Downs, La Cara is expected to make her 3-year-old debut after earning 13 Oaks qualifying points from her previous victory. Other contenders include Adirondack runner-up Italian Soiree and Gasparilla winner Dancing Magic. The race will feature 3-year-old fillies competing for Kentucky Oaks points.
At Oaklawn, the Bayakoa (G3) will see five-year-old Corningstone, who has won two stakes in a row, competing alongside homebred Godolphin 6-year-old Loved and six-year-old Free Like a Girl, a six-time stakes winner last year. The San Marcos (G3) at Santa Anita will feature seven-year-old Easter and There Goes Harvard, both looking to end streaks of off-the-board finishes. Atitlan, a four-year-old, will be racing for the first time at the San Marcos distance and against older horses in a stakes race.
