The 119th annual Dog Pound Stampede, held on July 16 in Mountain View County and sanctioned by the Foothills Cowboy Association alongside the Lakeland rodeo Association, featured a successful ranch rodeo and a special Calcutta fundraiser for the Steffler family. The main rodeo events began Wednesday morning, showcasing strong performances across various categories including saddle bronc, novice horse riding, ranch broncs, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, junior breakaway, junior steer riding, junior bull riding, team roping, and bull riding.
Notable winners included Blain Pengelly in saddle bronc with a score of 76, Greg Mulhall in steer wrestling with a swift 6.7 seconds, and Joey Baker as the bull riding champion with a score of 55. Other top performers were Jaxon Campbell in novice horse riding, Charlie Guinn in ranch broncs, Harper Walker in junior breakaway, and the team of Gordon and Chad Gulick in team roping. The event was well received and highlighted competitive rodeo talent across multiple disciplines.
