137th Rose Parade Returns with Magic Johnson as Grand Marshal and Star-Studded Performances

The 137th annual Rose Parade in Southern California returns on New Year’s Day, celebrating the theme “The Magic in Teamwork” with elaborate rose-covered floats, marching bands, and equestrian groups. Basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson serves as grand marshal, recognized for his wildfire relief efforts and leadership in LA’s recovery initiative. The parade features live performances by artists such as Bishop Briggs, John Foster, Charlie Worsham, and Dek of Hearts, and will be broadcast live across major networks and streaming platforms starting at 8 a.m. PT.

Following the parade, the Rose Bowl college football playoff quarterfinal will take place at 1 p.m. PT, featuring the Indiana Hoosiers against the winner of Alabama vs. Oklahoma. The Rose Bowl, known as “The Granddaddy of Them All,” is the oldest college football postseason game, dating back to 1902. The parade also showcases a diverse lineup of marching bands and equestrian units from across the U.S., Japan, and Mexico, highlighting the rich tradition and community spirit of this iconic New Year’s celebration.
